I was so excited for this sequel to "The Witch Boy!" I enjoyed seeing more of Aster's magical journey, especially as it relates to his grandmother's efforts to help her twin brother, Mikasi. It was also great to see more of Aster's family and their differing reactions to his new status as a witch; realistically, some react to his upset of the gender norm better than others. In addition to Aster's story, we also follow Charlie, who deals with attacks from a mysterious magical force alongside the every day stresses of feeling left out from a peer group newly focused on romance. I also enjoyed how well the story-arc of this book's newly introduced character, Ariel, fits in with the theme explored by all three story-arcs (plus Mikasi's): of finding your truest self and your place in the world when "normal" doesn't include you.

We get to see Aster grow into his newly accepted witch identity. We also get to see his family learn and grow with him. And then we get to see the way it could've gone for Aster! This has more of everything! More friends! More danger! More adventure! More secret identities! More magic!!

A great sequel to "Witch Boy", you see Charlie and Aster again, plus some new characters. Charlie becomes the victim of a curse; mayhem ensues. Another perfect comic.

In the sequel to The Witch Boy, Osterhag builds more of the world she started in the first volume, while still keeping things intimate and personal. I would very happily read more, more, more of this.
