These little charity books written by J.K. Rowling to help raise money are super cute - and what makes them even more fun to read - are the side commentaries from Harry, Ron, and Hermione in the side margins of the book. This one would later lead to an expansion movie series of the Wizarding World, that is a fun ride. But don't expect to pick up this book and find any story of Newt Scamander - it's all about the creatures in this book.

A super cute tie-in! I had such a good time with this book as a child.

DEAR CHRISCOLEMAN: THIS IS THE ORIGINAL `SCHOOL BOOK`, NOT THE MOVIE (or anything to do with it.) Considering the half-`asterick` description you`ve given of the film (Dumbledore is NOWHERE to be seen, except as being mentioned having stood up for wrongfully accused Newt Scamander at Hogwarts, Pickett is a bowtruckle (although not anywhere near my idea of the proper look for a bowtruckle) and the two sisters are the by-the-book, rush-in-to-the-defense-of-the-helpless-where-MACUSA-fears-to-tread nerd and her delightful, Marilyn Monroe-sweet, Non-Maj (Muggle) adoring baby sister, I have only one question for you: WHAT FILM WERE YOU LOOKING AT, BWANA???????

This is a clever and funny book that gives the reader a little satisfaction for their Harry Potter fix once they have finished all the other books. It would be fun to read all the books again with this little volume as a reference book for all of the creatures we encounter in the books. I love Harry's handwritten notes!
