Ahem. First, let's just say the original Tomb Raider WAY better. Whereas in this, we could start with Lara Croft's Incredibly bad security for her extremly hi-tech fortress and assistant. Then there's her being way too trusting (or naively dumb) as to be totally incongruent with her pro-active military experience and capabilities. EG: Just bad writing and/or acting when comes to that -- resulting in TOO OBVIOUS CONTRADICTION in story line believability - unless maybe 7 yrs old - albeit mixed with 12 yr old hormone levels (per note about 3 sentences down). And am saying this relative to Marvel movies! Same for shoot outs with bad guys who are very slow, stupid, and bad shots who can't even take hits, tho highly armored, offensively and defensively. EG.2: Too many (& continuous) lucky breaks for Lara -- until the final showdown with master criminal- then is almost realistic. Expensive scenery and/or great visual effects, dubbing, etc. Including fairly continuous tease-play expose' of our heroine - mostly just action lotion -wavy gravey motion - "Oh, Lets slow it down" - views of Angelina Jolie's generous upper assets. AND ...Bad guys are a well known hyper-right-wing (Libertarian originated) conspiracy organization. So, with this movie produced during the current political mess, is just over the top for getting traction with an apparently selected amazingly ignorant (let's see how far we can lower the bar) audience. All of which kind of makes sense with above notes - and the (head-shaker) 4-5 star reviews below. OOUUCHHHHAMONGUS!

Yawn-to-the-max!! Yet another dreary Angelina Jolie vehicle where this talentless bimbo tries to prove that she is tougher than the toughest men of all.... B-O-R-I-N-G!!!!

It was quiet boring do to its video game roots. There was no real plot, and she was a very immoral on how she dressed and lived. Her last costume in the last scene was the best one she had on the entire movie. I agree with the butler.

The plot and effects are ridiculous, but I really love Angelina Jolie's style as Lara Croft!

Five stars? (See below.)Enjoyably ludicrous escapist adventure that borrows heavily from Indiana Jones, as well as James Bond, Modesty Blaise, Ray Harryhausen, and "Thief of Bagdad." Angelina Jolie plays the title character, who kicks butt and looks good doing it. Iain Glen (Jorah on "Game of Thrones"), a pre-Bond Daniel Craig, Noah Taylor, and Jolie's father Jon Voight co-star. Lots of action, very silly plot, but what do you expect from a movie based on a video game? Directed by Simon West ("Con Air") and followed by a sequel.

Perhaps I'm just too old-fashioned in my outlook on women's roles in movies these days, but, with that said, why does it seem to me that, time and again, Angelina Jolie is forever trying to firmly establish herself as being "just-one-of-the-boys" in her movies?

Why does Angelina always seem to be out to prove that, yes, her balls are, indeed, much bigger and hang so much lower than any of the males in the cast?

In this tailor-made vehicle (where Jolie is the only female actor), not only is her character a literal walking arsenal of state-of-the-art firearms (who always sleeps with a knife under her pillow, no less), but she has the superhuman capabilities to dodge bullets from the machine-gun fire of 5 masked assassins, as well as the ability to defeat and out-run anyone and anything.

Hello!? Lara Croft isn't a video-game character here. No. She's a real-life, flesh & blood woman, for crying out loud!

Considering that in real-life Angelina and her father, actor, Jon Voight, are at extreme odds with each other, I thought it really sucked that here in "Tomb Raider" these 2 were playing a loving, gushing father & daughter team where even death couldn't separate them or diminish that endless, overpowering love. (Sheesh! Give me a break, already!)

Anyways - When it comes to this film's far-fetched, $115 million story (for which Angelina was paid $7 million), I found it absolutely impossible to believe that (all around this world) there are massive, buried-treasure sites which have all remained big, dark secrets until Lara Croft and her cronies (and enemies) have finally uncovered them.

This is is awful ! ...when I got this NYPL disc home and put this movie in the DVD says: NOT FORMATTED FOR THIS REGION !!??

I have watched thousands of other New York Public Library DVDs on my Panasonic Region 1 DVD Player,.. but this one makes it a DOZEN that have come up as NOT FORMATTED etc. ! I really wanted to see this one. WHY is the New York Public Library buying DVD's that are NOT FORMATTED to be viewed in this region ? Has this happened to anyone else out there ??

Angelina Jolie is a perfect Lara, sexy, smart, combat-ready (and performing most of her own stunts, which are original and breathtaking!) Fun flick!

p.s. My husband enjoyed it too...

Sexual Content: Actor Daniel Craig is shown almost completely naked. Though Craig's nudity has nothing to do with sex.
